Burnlounge is Pathetic
To try to gain exposure Burnlounge has challenge its store owners to "immediately go to (their) 1.0 store and download 3 of (their) favorite albums. Right now!!!! If all 30,000 retailers bought 3 albums in the 30 days, BL becomes number 2 in digital sales nationwide."
Burnlounge is trying to make this illusion that the stores are actually selling music by having the owners of the stores buy music from their own store. That is pretty sleazy and pathetic.

You are right, this is pathetic. As a (soon-to-be-former) BurnLounge retailer, one of the selling points we were explicitly given (including at Las Vegas, in person, from the SAME STAGE from which we were given this "Million Download [it yourself] Challenge") was that there wasn't any "front-loading" like Amway, where the retailer has to buy a bunch of stuff himself to "support" the product. Well, what's the difference here? I have to buy a bunch of tracks from myself just to give the ILLUSION that I'm selling music (and making money), and that BurnLounge is become a big force in music retailing? This is not what I was sold, and it's not what I signed on for. For artists, I still say it's great, but for the rest of us, well...
Do you think the music industry will care? Would you or would you not want to sell 80,000 albums per month?
Thats the minimum goal...
